Peter Huff's book, a serious study of the vast literature, has decimated the grounds of polemic and opened the door to a measured understanding of the fundamentalist phenomenon. The learning is as deep as it is broad, and the writing is clear and attractive. This is an introduction, a text-book, but a lot more.
